Originally built in 1927, the renovation of Caltech’s Dabney Hall of Humanities involved restoring classical Spanish details to their original character, modernizing all building systems, and bringing the building into compliance with seismic, title 24, and fire life safety codes within a historic context. The 25,000 square foot building has 3 stories plus a basement telecommunications room that serves the entire campus, lecture room and offices, an original library, a treasure room, and is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. |
